Disability Organizations
There are all sorts of disability organizations around the world, and on the web, so I am going to provide a couple of links that include a list of disability organizations, so you can choose the ones you’d like to look at the most. I am going to pick a few out of my favorites and write up a few words on them.

American Association of People with Disabilities is an organization whose mission is to empower disabled people in economical, political, and social situations and to make sure that the disability laws are being implemented and adhered to. http://www.aapd.com/index.php
The Center for Independent Living organization was founded in 1972, and since then has been helping disabled people towards their goals independent living. http://www.cilberkeley.org/
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health organization set up by scientists and concerned parents, who are looking for a cure for neuromuscular diseases. The site provides a lot of information and a good community section. http://www.mda.org/
Polio Experience Network offers information, ideas and inspiration to help understand polio and post polio syndrome. It also offers links to find off line support groups. http://www.polionet.org/
Spina Bifida Association’s dual purpose is find a way to prevent spina bifida and to offer support to affected persons. http://www.spinabifidaassociation.org/
Survivors Corps (formally known as the Landmine Survivors Network) is a worldwide network of people support landmine survivors and helping them rise above their injuries and give back to the community by changing attitudes to violence, mass destruction and war. http://www.landminesurvivors.org/
The World Institute on disability is an internationally renowned public policy centre run by disabled people for disabled people. It supports and strengthens the disability movement worldwide. http://www.wid.org/
I know the feeling of being alone can be overwhelming sometimes to everyone, disability or no disability. So it is good to know that there are so many organizations fighting battles, supporting those who need it most, and trying to find cures where cures can be found.
